Reimagining the Chappaqua Library

Posted on:

Since my arrival in early 2024, it has become increasingly clear that our beloved building is showing its age—evidenced by the closed courtyard patio, falling ceiling tiles, and inconsistent heating and air conditioning. At the same time, the demand for programming, study, and work space has grown significantly in recent years.

Last night, the Library Board of Trustees formally approved a contract with H2M Architects + Engineers to develop a comprehensive Library Facilities Master Plan. This plan will assess the current condition of our building, examine community needs, and offer recommendations to guide future improvements and renovations. We anticipate that this process will help us better align our physical space with the services and resources our residents rely on.

This work will begin in the new year. As part of the process, we will hold focus groups and open meetings to discuss what kind of library our community envisions for the future and to help shape this plan. It will involve many steps, and we hope you will add your voice to the conversation.

With Kind Regards,

Jennifer
