The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Services allow you to obtain print materials, such as books and magazine articles, as well as microfilm of old newspapers, that are not owned within the Westchester Library System. To use WLS ILL Services, you must be a valid WLS library card holder in good standing with active borrowing privileges.
WLS does not charge for ILL Services, however certain lending institutions have loan policies that include charging fees or on-site-use-only restrictions. If they become our only options, you will be contacted for permission to proceed. You can cancel a request if you decline to pay the charge or do not want to use the material in the library.
The average time to obtain the materials is one to four weeks; some obscure materials may take longer to get. The time it takes depends on availability of the materials requested, location and staff situation of the owning libraries, and the type of delivery.
You may place an ILL request in person at any public library in Westchester County, or follow the appropriate link below to submit your request online. You can have the requested materials delivered to any WLS member library for you to pick up, but you must return the materials to the same library where they have been checked out.
Patrons may submit two (2) ILL requests per day. (Additional requests will be processed the following day.)
