Program Description

Event Details

Join us this for an Indie Lens Pop-up screening of "The Librarians" and discussion about the freedom to read this National Library Week.

Following the screening, we'll hear from our guest speakers Emily Drabinski, Past President of the American Library Association (ALA), and librarians from Westchester, NY who have faced challenges to materials in their library’s collection.

About the Documentary

“The Librarians” chronicles Texas lawmakers’ efforts to review and restrict library materials, placing librarians on the frontlines of a national debate.

Across the country, librarians and communities are grappling with challenges to collection standards, particularly around race-related and LGBTQIA+ content. Drawing on historical context, The Librarians invites viewers to consider the broader implications for education, access to information, and public life.
