Devin T. Hagerty 

Devin T. Hagerty is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.  He was the founding director of UMBC's Global Studies program.  Hagerty teaches on international relations, national security policy, nuclear weapons and deterrence, and South Asian politics.  

He is the author of:

Nuclear Weapons and Deterrence Stability in South Asia (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019), 
The Consequences of Nuclear Proliferation:  Lessons from South Asia (MIT Press, 1998),  
(Co-author) Fearful Symmetry:  India-Pakistan Crises in the Shadow of Nuclear Weapons (University of Washington Press, 2005)

Hagerty also edited South Asia in World Politics (Rowman and Littlefield, 2005).  He has published in International Security, Security Studies, Current History, Asian Survey, Nonproliferation Review, the Australian Journal of International Affairs, and other scholarly journals.  Hagerty was a co-editor of the journal Asian Security.  He was awarded a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A.L.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, and a B.A. from Rutgers University. Hagerty is writing a book on the November 1979 burning of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan.
