Teacher Privileges Application

The Children’s Room offers special borrowing privileges to classroom teachers who live or work in Chappaqua. Special privileges apply only to materials used in your classroom and only to materials owned by the Chappaqua Library. We can set books aside on “Temporary Reserve” for your students to use in our library, or you may take them to use in your classroom. Privileges include extended loan periods, and, if necessary, waiving overdue fines. You are responsible for materials that are damaged or lost. Please consider using our Assignment Alert Form.

PLEASE REVIEW OUR PROCEDURES:

  1. Prior approval by a Children’s Librarian is necessary for special borrowing privileges BEFORE you check out.
  2. In some cases, we may need to ask you to return specific items early, if they are in demand.
  3. Check out your materials at the circulation desk.
  4. Overdue books must be returned to the Children’s Room to avoid incurring fines.
  5. Notify us if you change schools or move so that we have the correct information.
  6. You must have a valid Westchester Library System card:
  • Your card will be blocked with fines over $25. You must return overdue books or pay any fines to get your card unblocked.
  • When your card expires, these privileges also expire. Remember to come into the Children’s Room to renew this service when you renew your card.
