The Chappaqua Library

Chappaqua Library cardholders now have access to Freegal, a database that lets you download music onto any MP3 player, including iPods, and can be loaded onto iTunes.  It is compatible with both PCs and Macs.

Here’s how it works:

Sign onto the Freegal site with your library barcode number.

Browse the Artist A-Z list or the various genre lists, and find a song you like by listening to a sample clip.

Download up to three songs per week.

The library has a limited number of downloads per week, so patrons may occasionally need to wait for this service. If this is the case, patrons can manage future downloads with “MyWishlist,” which is located in the upper right hand corner of the site. We will do everything we can, however, to reduce the waiting periods.

On the evening of September 19, 2010 access to your online library card account will change. Library patrons will be required to log-in to the catalog using their library card number and a PIN

By default, your new PIN will be the last 4 digits of the phone number registered on your library card account. Upon logging-in for the first time, library patrons are encouraged to change their PIN to something that is easy to remember, but that only they would know.
