"...to encourage, receive and administer gifts for... special items or projects not covered in the library's operating budget... and to support the library in developing its services and facilities..."
The Friends meet monthly to plan programs, prepare for the annual book sale and investigate sources of funding. Meetings are held in the Chappaqua Library, and the public is invited to attend. Our primary sources of income are the annual June used book sale, fund-raising events, special donations, membership dues, and a fall membership drive.

The Chappaqua Library may not, by law, raise funds beyond the taxes that are voted on each spring. Because of that, the Friends serve as a fund-raising organization for extra activities. Please be generous; your contribution is tax deductible and vital to the library. Complete the membership form and mail it with a check payable to Friends of the Chappaqua Library, to P.O. Box 445, Chappaqua New York 10514. We are a non-profit organization and eligible for matching gifts.

The Friends of the Chappaqua Library are sponsoring the Young Writers Contest in 2010. The contest is open to all students, grades 6 to 12, residing in the Chappaqua School district.
Each year several local professional writers volunteer to judge the contest. First, Second and Third prizes will be awarded in each category, at both the middle school and high school levels. High school winners will be announced at the annual Awards Assembly.
