Foreign Language Books
The library has books in the following languages: Spanish, French, Hebrew, Japanese, and Chinese. We welcome suggestions, donations, and help in maintaining this collection. This collection is shelved near adult fiction. In May 2001, the Organization of Chinese Americans gave more than 200 books in Chinese to the library. The collection is very popular and the library and the community thank OCA for its great generosity.

The library has foreign language periodicals:

PEOPLE EN ESPANOL
SINO TIMES
COASTIDE MAGAZINE
PARIS MATCH

If you would like books in any of these languages or others which we don't own, the reference staff can borrow books for you from libraries in the New York metropolitan area.

The Learning Center & Special Education

The Chappaqua Library has a collection of information called "The Learning Center." This section includes all the books on how we learn as well as special education topics such as: learning differences, attention deficit, developmental delays, sensory impairments, gifted and talented and pervasive developmental disabilities. All the books in this area have pink labels that say "THE LEARNING CENTER" on them.  In addition to books, this center has periodicals and a video/DVD collection. This center was developed for students, parents, teachers, tutors and professionals for accessing and understanding all information on how we learn and what affects learning.

The reference librarians can help you access any information you need, so don’t hesitate to ask them for assistance. For more information, contact Deb Donaldson, the library’s special education person, at 238-4779.
