New Website
The library welcomes a new school year and a new season with a brand new website, created, with our help, by a very generous volunteer. It has been redesigned and updated, making many more features available to our users from home. These features include an expanded research section and videos of our adult programs. We are also seeking to simplify certain procedures, such as applying for library cards and signing up for children’s and teen’s programs. Our goal is to offer more services online in a user-friendly format. So take a look at www.chappaqualibrary.org and let us know what you think. We encourage and appreciate your suggestions as we fine-tune our new online presence to provide the best library service possible. Email our webmaster.
New Sunday Hours
Starting Sunday, September 13, the Library will be open an extra hour. Our new hours are from 12:30 – 5:30.
USE YOUR LIBRARY CARD!
If you want to check materials out of the Library, PLEASE have your library card with you—or at least memorize or write down your barcode number. We circulate a lot of materials (our circulation statistics indicate nearly 40,000 transactions each month), and keeping track of that many items can be a challenge. So, to help us comply with legal and privacy issues, and to minimize needless mistakes, our policy requires that:
- A patron MUST present a library barcode or valid form of id to borrow material or place a reserve.
- If picking up a book for another person, you MUST have that person’s library card or barcode number.
- A patron MUST give their barcode number over the phone if placing a reserve or making inquiries about their account.
Self check-out machines will be coming in the near future, and you will also need your card to operate these. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter—it really will help us to run the library more smoothly.
