NEED A GOOD READ?
By far one of our most-asked questions here at the library is “what should I read next?” Look for our dedicated staff recommendation shelf near the new nonfiction with a variety of offerings—novels, mysteries, memoirs, history—all tried and true good reads.
There is also a wonderful readers’ advisory database called available through the Westchester Library System. Click on the picture or go to our homepage, www.chappaqualibrary.org, then Online Resources, then click on WLS Subscription Databases, then click on Newspaper and Magazine Databases. NoveList is the first database listed. It contains 125,000 fiction titles for people of all ages, accessible in a variety of ways. There are lists of award-winning books, and lists of books by genres and topics. Book groups can find discussion guides and reviews. If you’ve read all the books written by your favorite author, this site suggests other authors you would probably like as well. This is a very interactive database, and easy to use. So try it—go above and beyond the current bestseller.

SPRING IS HERE - VISIT A GARDEN
Look for the 2008 Open Days Directory in both our reference and circulating collections. This directory lists private gardens all over the United States (including 22 in Westchester) which can be viewed by the general public on specific dates from now until November. Look for some local gardens here, including Rocky Hills, Henriette Suhr’s “exquisite, painterly” garden on Old Roaring Brook Road. Also included in this directory are lists of public gardens by state.

AND IF YOU'RE IN A PHILOSOPHICAL MOOD...
The (http://plato.stanford.edu) is one of the latest comprehensive, scholarly reference works available to all for free on the Internet. A work in progress, the entries in this encyclopedia are maintained by experts in the field and refereed by a distinguished editorial board before they are made public. Recent entries include “Ethics of Stem Cell Research,” “The Problem of Evil,” and “Freedom of Speech.”

CLEAN OUT YOUR ATTICS!
The Friends of the Library’s annual book sale is coming up in June. We will be accepting book donations ONLY on Monday, June 2 and Tuesday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the theater. Volunteers are needed to sort, categorize, and sell books. Sign up at the reference desk to help out.
